About The Author
I don’t have accreditations to supplement my name. I’m not affiliated with influential circles. And I wasn’t born into an affluent pedigree. I come from farming ancestry and have a blue-collar background.
I do, however, have accomplishments; and many more failures to back up those accomplishments. I am an eternal student who feels compelled to share my knowledge, so others may take from it what they will and, with any luck, build upon my experiences with their own learning; continuing to humanize business.
Some of my life’s journey can be read throughout this book, particularly as it relates to business, collaboration, and people-centricities. What it doesn’t say – in so many words, yet might be perceived between the lines – is that my trial, error, and progress in business has honed my own personal contribution to humanity and society. My calling, if you will.
The art of storytelling describes well the necessary elements to knowing one’s purpose. The character must first become misaligned with their status-quo as a means to reveal what they are aligned with. They sharpen their skills through trials, and discover their “weapon of choice” to champion their newly awakened cause.
Luke Skywalker, uninspired by farming the family moisture fields, found Obi Wan Kenobi who gave Luke his lightsaber – which ultimately allowed him to free his father from the dark side and return balance to the Force. Thor, being exiled from his home, eventually proved himself worthy of his hammer – which enabled him to fulfill his duty as the defender of Earth. And Blue Shirt Guy, becoming discontent with routine, donned a pair of sunglasses – which opened his eyes to the evolutionary part of his code (DNA), forever changing the lives of Free World NPCs and Players alike.
Each of these are examples are unique pathways taken by the characters to uncover their true selves. In storytelling this process is called the “Hero’s Journey”. My journey could aptly be described as a guy who was afraid to change until one day became more afraid to stay the same. Developing practical business strategies is now the tool I wield to help others align closer with their potential. In doing so, align myself closer to my own potential.
I am, by no means, a business mogul. You won’t find my face on a magazine cover nor my name atop a skyscraper. I live in the business trenches with other entrepreneurs, making calls and shaking hands.
Perhaps one day a forward-thinking MBA will pick up my baton to run the next leg of our collaborative people-centric business marathon. Until then, I’ll continue exercising business projects, innovating, in my own style, for the purpose of releasing more of humanity’s potential.
